Investment Manager: Mike Turner

Mike Turner is the president and founder of Sabinal Capital Investments, LLC. He is an engineer by education and a highly successful entrepreneur with more than 25 years in the field of systems development and enterprise-level software applications. A great deal of investment decision-making process we use at Sabinal is dependent upon our very sophisticated software system that has been designed by Mr. Turner. The current iteration is the culmination of over a decade of continuous development and refinement. Mike is the system architect and oversees the evolution of the highly quantitative system. He is the originator and creator of the algorithms and design methodology. Mike and the Sabinal staff use the system continuously in our management of our hedge fund and many managed account stock and ETF portfolios.

Mike’s background may be from the problem-solving world of engineering and systems development, but his real talent is in his ability to design pattern recognition algorithms that have proven to be exceptionally accurate at forecasting market, Industry, Sector and Stock trends.

When Mike sold his software systems company, General Computer Systems, in the late 90’s, he initially had his retirement managed by professional managers, advisors and stock brokers. Even though Mike’s financial net worth was being managed by some of the top investment and mutual fund managers in the business, he saw only marginal returns in good years and significant losses in bad years.

In 1998, he made the decision to take over the active investment of his portfolio. And, although there were several systems available at the time, he did not find any that appropriately combined sophisticated technical trend analysis closely coupled with more traditional fundamental analysis. He brought together some of the sharpest software development minds in the business and over the course of the next 3 years, they developed the foundation of the current system now used by Sabinal Capital Investments and licensed to other professional investment firms.

In January, 2002, he launched TurnerTrends, Inc., as a retail investor advisory where clients of TurnerTrends could follow Mike’s personal portfolios trade-for-trade.

As the company grew, more and more high net worth individuals were requesting more than they were able to obtain through TurnerTrends. It was the need to meet these growing demands that spawned Sabinal Capital Investments, LLC, which was launched in January of 2008.

Mike is the head of both companies. He manages a staff of dedicated, talented individuals that are driven to increase the net worth of our clients and to provide our professional clients with the best stock investment tools in the world.
